what is somatic experiencing?

An integrative body-based technique, somatic experiencing teaches us how to rely on the natural resilience of the human body to heal from symptoms of chronic and traumatic stress.

This technique utilizes visceral awareness, body movement, position and balance to generate new experiences that contradict overwhelm and helplessness.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy views the body and mind as essentially interconnected and investigates how a person’s thoughts, feelings, sensations, attitude and belief systems all impact on the physical well-being of that person.

The technique utilizes visceral awareness, body movement, position and balance, to generate new experiences that contradict overwhelm and helplessness.

  • Anyone feeling disconnected from the body ready to process deep-seated issues through the body awareness, sensations, and movement.

  • People who exist in high-stress environments wanting to release chronic tension along with anxiety and fear trapped in the body

  • Those who want to heal from trauma and toxic stress at a deeper level

  • Individuals struggling with talk therapy and ready to move towards a practice that doesn't solely rely on verbal processing

somatic experiencing + spiritual direction
  • We are no longer divided from the divine within
  • We can hear Spirit's voice from inside more clearly
  • We experience more peace in our mind and body
Somatic Discernment
When the somatic is combined with the spiritual, the outcome is that...
Uses the body's wisdom as part of the discernment process.

In the somatic discernment process you will go on a journey of discovery that will teach you how to inwardly listen to your body's cues to navigate life's difficulties with more clarity and confidence.

Somatic Discernment

But the body's wisdom can also be deeply spiritual, when applied to spiritual direction.

This is where somatic discerntment

comes in!

somatic discernment

  • Spirituals seeking a shame-free space while contemplating a new beginning, and while bringing curiosity to your relationship with the divine.

  • The overthinkers that are tired of being trapped in their heads when stress arises, and ready to try a different approach to solving problems

  • Body-centered/aware folks that already have experience with somatics outside of spiritual contexts; AND those who have little to no experience!
